The repertoire The Flight of Kikuidataki by Marek Pasieczny is a contemporary classical guitar work that requires a high level of technical mastery and musical interpretation. The rhythmic complexity, dynamic elements, articulation, and combination of various classical guitar techniques make this composition an interesting subject for study as a medium for developing the technical abilities of classical guitar performers. This study aims to analyze the classical guitar performance techniques found in The Flight of Kikuidataki and to explain their application in the process of interpretation and performance. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method with a musical analysis approach through score analysis, literature review, and direct performance practice. The results indicate that this repertoire incorporates various performance techniques, including rasgueado, sonoristic techniques, repeat ad libitum, tapping, natural harmonics, artificial harmonics, string plucking, arpeggio, brushing, percussive techniques, tremolo, thumb technique, glissando, apoyando, and hammer-on. The application of these techniques not only serves to fulfill the technical demands of the composition but also contributes to the development of musical character, represents the imagery of the kikuidataki bird that inspired the work, and supports the performer’s interpretation. Therefore, The Flight of Kikuidataki possesses significant pedagogical value as advanced classical guitar repertoire and serves as a medium for developing technical skills and musical interpretation among classical guitar performers.
