Body aesthetics and dramatic performance are crucial elements in the theatrical performance of "Malin Kundang" by the Payung Sumatera Community. This study aims to analyze how these two elements intertwine to convey the narrative and emotions of this legendary story. The methods used include participant observation, in-depth interviews, and thematic analysis of the dancers' movements, expressions, and interactions. The findings indicate that the dancers' body movements and expressions not only reflect dance techniques but also portray the characters and conflicts within the story. The use of space and tempo contribute to the dramatic performance, while costumes and props reinforce the characters' identities. The performance successfully integrates body aesthetics and dramatic performance, creating a profound experience for the audience. The conclusion confirms that dance serves as a meaningful medium for conveying moral and cultural messages. This study is expected to inspire artists and researchers to further explore the expressive potential of performing arts.
