Analysis of Vokal Learning Strategies in Increasing the Cohesiveness of Harmony Of MAN 1 Mojokerto Extracurricular Group

This study aims to analyze the vocal learning strategies applied by trainers in increasing the cohesiveness of the Harmony Of MAN 1 Mojokerto extracurricular group. The research uses a descriptive qualitative approach by involving trainers, coaches, and extracurricular members as informants selected through purposive sampling techniques. Data analysis in this study is carried out through three essential stages, namely; data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing and verification. The data collection process lasted for three months from May 7, 2026 to July 27, 2026 by involving three informants, namely trainers and coaches, vice chairmen and active members of HOM. The results showed that the trainers applied learning strategies gradually through warm-ups, breathing exercises, intonation, articulation, resonance, diction, and musical expression. The trainer also combines demonstration methods, drills, sight reading, peer tutors, and utilizes sheet music, speakers, keyboard applications, and YouTube as learning media. The strategy improves members' vocal abilities while strengthening group cohesiveness through open communication, exercises based on the division of voice types, collaboration between members, joint evaluation, and a conducive and familial training atmosphere. The novelty of this research lies in the unification of two dimensions, namely vocal learning strategies and increasing group cohesiveness, specifically in the extracurricular context of madrasah student choirs that have not been explored much by previous studies. These findings show that structured vocal learning strategies are able to develop musical competence while building solidarity, responsibility, belonging, and cooperation. The purpose of this research can be a reference for choir coaches in designing learning that integrates vocal technical achievements with strengthening group cohesiveness in a sustainable and effective manner in the context of education.
