The Use the Drill Method in Javanese Gamelan Learning at Sanggar Adi Langen Budaya, Bangun Rejo, Lampung Tengah

This study aims (to describe the application of the drill method) in Javanese Gamelan learning at the Adi Langen Budaya Studio, Bangun Rejo, Central Lampung. The drill method in this study is applied as a form of practice that is carried out repeatedly, structured, and gradually to develop gamelan playing skills. (The study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation). Data sources involved the Head of the Studio, gamelan teachers, musicians, and one active student. The results show that the application of (the drill method is carried out through several stages, including preparation, providing examples of percussion by the teacher, and systematic repeated practice from slow to fast tempos accompanied by direct corrections during the practice process). Evaluation is carried out at each practice session to assess the accuracy of percussion techniques, rhythm, tempo, and cohesiveness between instruments. The application of the drill method has been proven to be able to improve mastery of percussion techniques, tempo consistency, coordination between instruments, and student discipline in participating in gamelan learning, so this method is considered effective in Gamelan learning in the studio environment.
